Nursing is the noblest of all profession. Nurses should be efficient in providing health care which requires skill in all aspects including computer application in nursing practice. With an aim of this the investigators undertook the study to assess the attitude of the Staff Nurses towards computer application in nursing practice by a standardized scale called P.A.T.C.H. Scale (Pretest for Attitudes Towards Computers in Healthcare). Thirty Staff Nurses working in the Private Hospital, Pondicherry were selected by Non-Probability, Convenient sampling Technique. P.A.T.C.H. Scale was administered to assess their attitude. Differential&inferential Statistics were used to assess their attitude. Study findings shows that 5 % of Staff Nurses had limited awareness, 40% of them had realistic view, 55 % of them had Enthusiastic view and 5 % of them had idealistic view and also 59% of them shown positive attitude, 20% of them had negative attitude and 21% of them had no opinion on computer application in nursing practice. This study shows that though we are in technology world many of the staff nurses have less awareness towards computer application in nursing practice and it can be changed by conducting Inservice education programme. Keywords

Assessment of clinical competence is an essential, mandatory requirement for health care profession. But it became a tough job for nurse educator as it poses several challenges in terms of objectivity and reliability. The OSCE which is the performance based method helps to overcome these challenges. This study was undertaken with the aim of assessing the knowledge, attitude&exploring the opinion towards OSCE among the nursing faculty by using mixed method. Knowledge on OSCE was assessed by using Structured Questionnaire with 15 items&attitude was assessed by using five point Likert scale with 10 items. Unstructured Questionnaire was formulated to explore an opinion. Non - Probability, Convenient sampling technique was used to select Thirty Nursing Faculty. Study findings revealed that 40 % of the nursing faculty had excellent knowledge, 47% of them had adequate knowledge and13% of them had inadequate knowledge and also it shows that 73% of them had positive attitude&27% of them had negative attitude towards OSCE. Correlation between Knowledge&Attitude towards OSCE found to be moderately negative. Opinion on OSCE was explored&grouped under "Opinion on OSCE", "Client Care", "Clinical Evaluation", "Utilization of Resources"&"Difference between OSCE&Traditional method of Clinical Examination". The study recommends that the Nursing Faculty should develop positive Opinion&skill in preparing the students by using OSCE.Keywords

Breastfeeding is natural (physiological) and instinctive, and nearly all mothers do it. Breastfeeding is an art and a skill which needs to be learnt and mastered. Postnatal period is crucial and mothers need to be given more information regarding breastfeeding. Mothers have many doubts and fears about breastfeeding and caring for their young ones. With this aim the study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a planned teaching programme regarding management of breast feeding problems. Quantitative approach with a quasi experimental randomized comparison group research design was used. By convenient sampling technique 60 primigravida women were selected out of which 30 in experimental and 30 was in comparison group. Data were collected by using self administered structured knowledge questionnaire on management of breast feeding problems and it was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Distribution of the postnatal mothers according to their demographic variable shows that maximum postnatal mothers (50.0%) were in age group of 24-26 years, 50.0% of them were belongs to Hindu religion, 41.7% were having secondary education, more than half of the postnatal mothers (71.6%) were housewife, 56.6% of them were belongs to nuclear family, maximum postnatal mothers (55.5%) were having family income of less than Rs.5000/- and majority of the postnatal mothers (65.0%) were primigravida. The effectiveness of planned teaching programme on management of breast feeding problems was analyzed by using paired t-test (t(29, 0.05) = 31.687, 0.000) and unpaired t- test value (t(58,0.05) = 10.612, 0.000) which was highly significant at 0.05 level. The chi square value showed that there was a significant association between the knowledge of primigravida women with their age (χ2 (2, 0.05) = 8.077, 0.018*), educational status (χ2 (2, 0.05) = 100.8, 0.002**), occupation (χ2 (1, 0.05) = 7.105, 0.02) and parity (χ2(1, 0.05) = 7.377, 0.007*) at p<0.05 level. It also shows that there is no association of pretest level of knowledge with religion, type of family and family income. Keywords

Background: Most of the time having a baby is a natural process. A pregnancy is considered high risk when complication occurs to the mother, baby or both. Aim: This study examined the effectiveness of planned teaching programme regarding knowledge on identification of high risk pregnancy among healthcare workers working at periphery level in Daman. Methods and Materials: A pre-experimental one group pre-test and posttest deign was used with convenient sampling technique on 80 samples. Structured knowledge questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge. Result: The pretest level of knowledge on antenatal care among health care workers shows that 60% of them have average, 38.75% them have poor and 1.25% of them have good knowledge. Posttest finding shows that 51.25% of them have average, 47.5% them have good and 1.2% of them have poor knowledge. It shows that pretest mean was 3.762 and posttest mean was 6.575, SD was 2.27, mean difference was 2.8123. Calculated paired t test value [t (79, 0.05) = 10.97 > 2.8123] is higher than the table value, which shows that the planned teaching programme was effective. The association between the level of knowledge and their socio- demographic variables were assessed by chi- square test which shows there is no significant. Conclusion: The overall average mean score indicated that planned teaching programme was effective in increasing knowledge of post test score of healthcare worker regarding identification of high risk pregnancy. Keywords
